Auditorium 113, Elliott School of International Affairs, 1957 E Street, NW Washington, DC 20052
In celebration of the Independence Day of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Central Asia Program and the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the United States are thrilled to invite you to a concert by Uzbek performers: a prize-winning singer and songwriter Sabina Mustaeva and a national ensemble SAFO. Sabina has been singing since early childhood as her grandfather, Bulat Mustaev, a professional jazz saxophonist, was among the first to bring this musical genre to Uzbekistan. Sabina is certainly a worthy heir to his legacy. The inception of the SAFO ensemble dates back to the year 2008 marking the genesis of a remarkable artistic journey. Its founder is an accomplished artist Toir Asqar – an esteemed figure within Uzbekistan’s artistic realm who holds the title Honored Artist of Uzbekistan. The concert will end with a discussion between the musicians and the audience. |
