Youth in Kazakhstan: Societal Changes, Challenges and Opportunities

On April 21, 2014, the Central Asia Program at the George Washington University held an international conference on “Youth in Kazakhstan: Societal Changes, Challenges and Opportunities,” as part of its Kazakhstan Initiative.

The conference was opened by Peter Rollberg, Director of GW’s Institute for European, Russian and Eurasian Studies, and H.E. Kairat Umarov, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the United States. The keynote speaker, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary Ambassador Richard Hoagland, presented the US policy toward Kazakhstan and insisted on the importance of youth for the future of Central Asian countries.
