There is little doubt that coercive methods to neutralize the Taliban movement have proven to be largely ineffective and, furthermore, are unlikely to yield results. Accordingly, in recent years the United States and its allies have expended considerable efforts aimed at correcting their strategy in Afghanistan and finding new ways and approaches in dealing with the problem of the insurgency in the country.
