The Central Asia Digital Islam Project explores the way Internet and social media are slowly beginning to revolutionize the Islamic marketplace of ideas for Central Asians. The project is sponsored by the University of Michigan Islamic Studies Program with cooperation from GW Elliot School of Interna-tional Affairs Central Asia Program and Registan.net. The principal research-ers are Noah Tucker (Registan.net and GW’s Central Asia Program), Sarah Kendzior (Al Jazeera English and GW’s Central Asia Program), Del Schwab (Penn State University) and Courtney Ranson (independent social media research consultant).
