Russia has become an unavoidable power in the Middle East, but one knows little about its Islamic Diplomacy. Based on a conference organized at GW in 2019, these papers address the different components of Russia’s Islamic Diplomacy, and how Spiritual Boards, Muslim-majority republics such as Tatarstan and Chechnya, and pilgrims to Mecca participaye in shapting Moscow’s foreign policy for the Islamic world.
