CALL FOR PANELS AND PAPERS
The Conference Organising Committee has the to invite you to the first CESAI conference of Afghan Studies that will take place in Yerevan, Armenia on 26-28 June 2017. It will be hosted by the Institute of Oriental Studies, Armenian-Russian State University.
The conference seeks to provide an interdisciplinary forum for the scholarly discussion on a broad range of Afghan Studies not limited to the scholarship on the eponymous country but also dealing with Afghanistan’s environs comprising a unique liminal region between the Iranian world, Turkic Central Asia and South Asia that may be described in terms of the Afghan trans-boundary cultural and linguistic .
Interested scholars are invited to submit proposals for papers and panels that feature new academic insights on aspects of one of the following topics (but not limited to these): – Interaction between State and non-State Actors throughout Afghan History; – Centre-Peripheries Relations and Cultural Encounters in Afghan History; – Afghan Studies from the Perspective of Mobility and Entanglements; – Future Directions of Afghan Studies.
The working language of the conference is English. Papers should not exceed 20 minutes with 10 minutes allocated to questions and comments.
Registration fee is 130.00 euros. Information regarding registration, as well as conference practicalities, including lodging options, will follow shortly. Unfortunately, the Organising Committee is not in a position to waiver fees or subside participants at this time.
Should you decide to present a paper please fill in the attached registration form and send an abstract of your paper not exceeding 400 words in English by 15 March 2019 to the Organizing Committee at the following e-mail address cesai.conference@gmail.com. Accepted panels and papers will be notified by 3 April 2019. The Organizing Committee reserves the right to pool papers into thematic panels.
