Presidential elections will be held in Tajikistan on November 6, 2013. Despite large control by the authorities over the political landscape, secular andIslamic opposition were able to unify behind a common figure from the human rights sector. Our roundtable will go beyond the strictly electoral event to discuss the main drivers of political and social changes in Tajikistan,especially the role of Islam in the public space, questions of social justice, and migrations, to offer a more accurate picture of this key Central Asian state.
