Foreign Investment Law and Sustainable Development in the Kyrgyz Republic (video)

Dr. Begaiym Esenkulova is an Associate Professor of Law of the American University of Central Asia (Kyrgyzstan) and who is currently a Visiting Postdoctoral Scholar at the Indiana University (Bloomington). Begaiym discusses the investment legislation and international investment agreements of the Kyrgyz Republic and provide a critical analysis of how they should be reformed for the advancement of sustainable development of the country. She will also explore how to design and implement a new generation legal framework of foreign direct investment that will not only provide for the protection of investors’ rights, but will also address investments’ wider social, economic, and environmental effects in the Kyrgyz Republic.
