Join us in bringing Central Asia to the world

Admission tickets to our week-long celebration are free. However, we greatly appreciate your donations to support our fundraising effort #CAPraising to be able to continue our work.

As we celebrate our 10th anniversary, we reflect on our achievements and look to the future as we lift the voices of Central Asians and highlight the region’s developments for a global audience. To accomplish our goals, we are launching our first public fundraising effort. Your contributions will support:

  1. Launching CAP Academy, an online, self-paced course on Central Asian Studies in English and Russian;
  2. Producing high-quality media, research, and academic content on Central Asia in English, Russian, and local languages;
  3. Offering Fellowships for Central Asian professionals, youth, and experts; and supporting alumni projects in their home countries;
  4. Engaging in research and dialog on the stakes and challenges facing civil society in Central Asia;
  5. Promoting Uyghur cultural heritage in the face of Chinese repression.

We are proud sponsors of emerging policy experts and activists from the region through our fellowship and mentorship programs. We believe in inclusive knowledge and strive to empower voices from Central Asia to enrich global scholarship on the region.

CAP alumni Association
Events: Fellows presentation

Throughout our first decade, CAP has been in the vanguard of academic knowledge on Central Asia, and served as a global information and educational platform on and for the region. Our multidisciplinary approach weaves together threads from political science, sociology, anthropology, economics, history, development studies, and security studies into a rich tapestry.

Over the past decade, CAP has:

  • Reached people in 176 countries, with 75% of its audience outside the US;
  • Overseen more than 500 publications, of which 60% are international authors;
  • Trained over 100 Central Asian fellows
  • Come to organize over 50 events, discussions, and debates annually;
  • Provided alternative and fact-checked analysis in Russian and local languages through its 4 regional platforms.

CAP provides a platform for different—and often contradicting—points of view on contemporary Central Asia. We focus on the wider Central Asian/Central Eurasian space, which includes the 5 post-Soviet Central Asian states (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan), as well as Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, China’s Xinjiang province, and Mongolia, as well as Russia’s Muslim regions.
