The Sinor Research Institute for Inner Asian Studies (SRIFIAS) at Indiana University faces an uncertain future and needs urgent help. The building that currently houses the SRIFIAS is being closed and the Institute has been overlooked in new space allocations. If a new home is not identified by the end of this summer, the SRIFIAS collections and research facilities cannot continue to function.
The Friends of the SRIFIAS campaign website explains the situation and allows supporters to sign and annotate a petition and/or write letters to Indiana University administrators to voice their concern.
The current space problem is apparently within the capacities of the University administration to resolve. Friends of the SRIFIAS aims to enable University decision makers to consider the opinions of scholars around the world who value Indiana’s unique, long-standing, and irreplaceable resources in Inner Asian/Central Eurasian studies.
