Travel Grants to Participate in the CESS Regional Conference: The Joint ESCAS-CESS Conference in Bishkek, June 29-July 2
CESS is pleased to announce that participants in the Joint ESCAS-CESS Conference may apply for travel grants to help cover conference-related costs to attend the conference at the American University of Central Asia in Bishkek, June 20-July 2.
Each awardee will be reimbursed up to 500 USD to help offset actually accrued travel-related expenses (economy airfare, ground transportation, economy lodging). Hard copies of all receipts will be required for reimbursement. Expenses beyond this amount may be covered by applicants themselves and/or any other sources that the conference participant may have access to.
An application can be considered from anyone who is included on the Preliminary Program. To be eligible, one must also be a CESS member (note that membership in CESS or ESCAS is anyway required for conference participants); if you have recently received a travel grant from CESS, this can also affect your priority in this competition. Priority is also given to scholars who come from countries of the Central Eurasian region.
For a part of the grants, priority will be given to those presenting on topics related to the promotion and protection of open society values — including (but not limited to) respect for human rights and the rule of law, the development of civil society, women’s and minority empowerment, and the promotion of fairness and inclusion in political, economic, educational, and health care systems — so be sure that you emphasize any related aspect of your research in the application. High-quality applications on other topics are are also eligible.
Applications will be ranked according to how they demonstrate the following:
Please submit applications of no more than 1000 words that clearly address the priorities listed above to [email protected] no later than May 11, 2017. Include the words “Bishkek travel grant” in the subject line of the message.
Part of the funding for this travel grant program is generously provided by the Open Society Foundations.
